Arturo Pavón, brother of La Niña de los Peines, brought the piano into flamenco in the 1950s. Chano Domínguez and Dorantes followed. It is a recognised lineage within flamenco, not a modern fusion. Almost nobody programmes it live: it takes space, it needs tuning, and it forces the rest of the cast to match that level. At La Perla del Born you will hear it from four metres away.
